hello, pretty!

chi city, my city.

Friday night spiced wine with @josahc (at Christkindlmarket Chicago)

Trying to be an adult and save money = only allowing myself to go out to eat 2x a week.

For dinner last night I ate a banana and a cookie. Tonight I made a box of mac and cheese.

so what if i merely cut ribbons into 6” strips and tied them around a string of lights.

still counts: first holiday diy project of the season!

thankful.

Today I am truly grateful for so many things:

-Wonderful parents who drove until 2 a.m., just to pick me up from Chicago and bring me home for Thanksgiving.
-A steady job that’s recently welcomed me to follow a slightly different career path. All the long hours have paid off.
-My best friends. Although we talk on the daily, I only get to see a few times each year. Despite this, it feels as though nothing has ever changed. Growing up an only child, these girls are my sisters in the truest sense of the word.
-Chicago, my new home. There are days when it’s still tough, but I’ve adjusted rather well. (And I’m already excited to return to that beautiful city on Lake Michigan where it will be decked to the nines for Christmas!)
-And Stella. The most perfect, loving, hilarious companion I could have ever wished for. This dog has absolutely run away with my heart.

We didn’t know much about each other twenty years ago. We were guided by our intuition; you swept me off my feet. It was snowing when we got married at the Ahwahnee. Years passed, kids came, good times, hard times, but never bad times. Our love and respect has endured and grown. We’ve been through so much together and here we are right back where we started twenty years ago - older, wiser - with wrinkles on our faces and hearts. We know now many of life’s joys, sufferings, secrets and wonders and we’re still here together. My feet have never returned to the ground.

This is your fridge before you leave for a 9 day vacation (although two of those days I’ll be “working” from my parents’ house).

Vacation, I see you!
